Vision [Why?]
Pushing her limits and going outside her comfort zone is a way for Colleen to find peace and confidence in her abilities.
Colleen has struggled with confidence.
Colleen is most alive and confident when she is physically pushing her body beyond what most could endure. She knows she is doing what she is meant to do when racing 100 miles or bombing down technical descents.
She has always known she is meant for something great, her life has been a series of events to find out what she is capable of – while digging internally to understand the meaning of this all.
She often asks herself…
Ryoku + Arc’teryx
Colleen’s greatest fear is stagnation; limits and dying without having done anything good.
The Kilimanjaro FKT represents something that scares the shit out of Colleen – so it calls to her. The improbability of the pursuit- an athlete that lives in the Midwest achieving something on Kili – is exactly the type of audacious challenge that gives Colleen joy.
This is the reason she is the one to set the FKT. She wants to quell her inner demons. She wants to prove that audacious and/or improbable goals and dreams are possible. She wants to do what sets her on fire. She wants to do what she is really damm good at.
Maybe Kili is the next thing in a series of pursuits to slay the zombie of stagnation and self-doubt. But can someone struggle with confidence while having a ballsy, bold belief that they are the only one – the perfect person – to set the Western Breach/Mweka FKT?
